📬 Saturday Scoop: Saying Goodbye to London
A final stroll through Mayfair and Chelsea, sunset views from the Shard, and all your weekend updates—from reader Q&A to MDW sales.
Good morning! I hope you’re having a great weekend. I’m headed home today, and I have to say—I’m ready. It’s been a fantastic trip, but I miss my family and the comforts of home. I love traveling, and our accommodations were fabulous, but I’m looking forward to being back on my own schedule.
I spent my last day in London exploring on foot. I stayed at a hotel in Mayfair, so I started there and walked through Hyde Park, eventually making my way to Harrods, where I stopped for a bite at EL&N. I never made it to the Royal Hospital, but I saw some truly impressive floral displays along the way.
I ended up in Sloane Square, where I found a table outside and spent about an hour soaking up the sunshine and people-watching—it was glorious.
Later, I hopped on the Tube (all by myself—yay, me!) and headed to London Bridge to meet two of the ladies from our tour for dinner at The Shard. It was absolutely spectacular. After dinner, we took the Uber Boat to the London Eye—also spectacular! It was sunset, so the views were breathtaking. My final stop was Elizabeth Tower before catching a cab back to my hotel. The perfect ending to a wonderful trip.
I’m headed to Heathrow shortly—fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and the flight is uneventful! Meanwhile, I’ve got this week’s blog recap, reader Q&A, and a Memorial Day Weekend sale roundup for you below.
Have a great day!
xx,
Jo-Lynne

❓Reader Q&A
Have a question? Just reply to any email with “Q&A” in the subject line!
Q: I keep eyeing the linen shorts (or breezy pants)/shirt sets that are everywhere right now, and imagining myself wearing them on summer vacation. What's your opinion - are these best left to the under-40s, or can we make them sophisticated? Have you run across any that you really like?
A: I actually think linen sets can be quite sophisticated! I have this one from Frank & Eileen that I wore on a trip to Florida. I also just styled a black version with a vest and skirt from Gap Factory—two very different price points, but great options are everywhere right now.
Q: How do you think your packing went? Did you bring enough clothing? Anything you would have left home?
A: I’ve had a few variations on this question, so I’ll combine them here. Honestly, I’m thrilled with how my packing went. I got lucky with the weather, but I also think I could’ve pivoted with what I brought if it had turned cold or rainy. I’ll share more details in my What I Wore Lately blog post on Wednesday, but overall, I had everything I needed and nothing I didn’t—I wore every item at least once. In hindsight, I could’ve left one sweater at home, but there was no way to know that ahead of time, and I did wear it once.
The real challenge of packing in a carry-on, at least for me, isn’t the clothes or shoes—I can usually get those pretty nailed down. It’s all the extra paraphernalia that’s the hardest to streamline.
Q: How is the food in England? Is it as bland as they say?
A: I didn’t find the food bland at all! From what I hear, it’s come a long way over the past 10–20 years. That said, traditional British fare can be quite heavy. But in London, you can find just about everything—it’s such a multicultural city, and the food scene is incredibly varied and flavorful.

Loved hearing about your uk trip. Last year took our 14 year old grandson to London and Hampshire . Loved seeing the sights through a teen. I love the Cotswolds. I enjoyed seeing what you wore. It was helpful. I agree incidentals take up space lol
Q&A--I'd like to get a matching shorts set, preferably linen, but want respectable length shorts and short sleeve top. Any suggestions? Thanks!
